As a substitute for hexabromocyclododecane, methyl octabromoether meets environmental protection requirements and has stable product quality. The product has extremely high flame retardant efficiency and can achieve excellent flame retardant effect with a very small amount. Compared with traditional flame retardants, it has a lower addition cost. It has obvious flame retardant effect in XPS extruded board and EPS foaming applications.

Octabromoether is a white powder with low toxicity. It is soluble in benzene, acetone, chloroform, etc., but insoluble in water and alcohol. Its decomposition temperature is greater than 285ºC. It is the main product of deep processing of tetrabromobisphenol and has better flame retardant effect. As an additive flame retardant, octabromoether is a high-efficiency flame retardant containing both aromatic bromine and aliphatic bromine, with excellent thermal stability and light stability. It is mainly used in polypropylene, polypropylene, polypropylene resin, polyvinyl chloride resin, and resin. Compared with hexabromocyclododecane, it has a higher decomposition temperature and cannot be replaced by hexabromocyclododecane in some aspects.
