Heptane is an organic compound with chemical formula C7H16.It is a colorless, volatile liquid.Soluble in water, alcohol, ether, benzene, chloroforms and other most organic solvents.It is mainly used as a standard and solvent for octane number determination, and can also be used for organic synthesis and preparation of experimental reagents.
